Assessing the learning experiences of students

When assessing students, I think it is equally important to pay attention to students’ learning outcomes (e.g. their achievement as measured by tests and exams at the end of a term), as well as their learning processes. I feel that Hong Kong higher education has been seemingly emphasizing too much on the assessment of the end-of-term outcomes always. Can anyone share any good practice of organizing the assessment of a course that values the importance of both the students’ learning experiences, as well the learning outcomes?
